Prof. Dr. Cătălin LOGHIN
Dr. Loghin is a Professor of Medicine – Cardiology Division with UTHealth McGovern Medical School in Houston, TX, USA. A graduate of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Gr. T. Popa Iasi, Romania, Dr. Loghin has accumulated nearly 40 years of experience in academic cardiovascular medicine, with a focus on multimodality diagnostic imaging.
As a genuine trailblazer, Dr. Loghin pioneered the field of interventional imaging in structural heart disease, and actively took part in innovative research and international trials on transcatheter therapies of valvular heart disease. He has published seminal work on the development of MitraClip, TAVR and TMVR technologies, now all standards of care in modern cardiology.
Over the past decade, a second area of development was the implementation of a comprehensive cardiac CT service for Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center – a flagship institution for one of the largest healthcare systems in the USA, a tertiary referral center and a leading site for many USA national trials. Part of this service is the introduction of cardiac CT stress myocardial perfusion imaging, a technique available in only a handful of large academic centers in the USA.
In parallel with his academic endeavors, Dr. Loghin maintains a large and highly rated clinical practice, which includes outpatients visits as well as a full cardiology consultative service for inpatients at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, Houston, TX, USA.
