Welcome Message by Prof. Cristian Gheorghe:

Dear Colleagues and Friends ,

I am delighted to welcome you to the Bucharest PancreaticFest 2016 which will take place on September 9-10 at Crowne Plaza Hotel Bucharest. As in 2015, this is a meeting dedicated to pancreatic diseases which puts together two traditionally events: the EUS Workshop for Pancreatic Pathology and the Annual Course for Pancreatic Diseases.

During the first day, dedicated to EUS Workshop, renowned national and international experts (Peter Vilmann from Copenhagen – Denmark, Erwin Santo from Tel Aviv – Israel and Alberto Larghi from Rome – Italy) will offer you a high educational program. The EUS Live Demo will be transmitted from the Emergency Military Hospital „Dr. Carol Davila”, as in previous years, where the same enthusiastic team of doctors and nurses coordinated by Mariana Jinga will be engaged in the management of case presentations and live demonstrations. We will focus on teaching EUS from indication to procedure itself. The Workshop is devoted both to experienced and less experienced endoscopists.

In the second day we remain confident to the scientific format of a Course Day dedicated to pancreatic diseases, mainly pancreatic cancer, acute and chronic pancreatitis. This year is a special year for pancreatology due to the 20th Meeting of the International Association of Pancreatology (IAP) scheduled to be held in Sendai – Japan during August 4-8, 2016, in conjunction with the 47th Annual Meeting of the Japan Pancreas Society (JPS) and the 6th meeting of the Asian-Oceanic Pancreatic Association (AOPA). Five consensus sessions in pancreatic diseases will be held during the Sendai Meeting: 1) Consensus for treatment of autoimmune pancreatitis, 2) International consensus on pancreatic neoroendocrine tumours, 3)International consensus on the management of IPMN, 4) International consensus on borderline resectable pancreatic cancer and 5) Consensus on “What is early chronic pancreatitis and why is diagnosis important?”. These will be partly presented and discussed  in our Course. Peter Hegyi from Szeged – Hungary, a permanent friend of Romanian pancreatologists, will be again with us and together with Katalin Marta and Romanian experts will discuss important issues in acute pancreatitis.

We look forward to see many of you participating in the Course and the Workshop as well.
